Questioner:

Richard Kaiser, MD

Respondents:

Tarek Hassan, MD

Mark Humayun, MD, PhD

Charles Wykoff, MD, PhD

1. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE COMEDIAN

Tarek Hassan, MD: Chris Rock—tells very funny jokes about deep topics that aren’t really so funny… He is ultimately socially conscious and always leaves you thinking while laughing.

Mark Humayun, MD, PhD: Robin Williams

Charles Wykoff, MD, PhD: My 4 year old son. He loves creating phrases like, “bahng-goo storm!” Ask me about it when I see you next—Korean speakers will have an advantage!

2. WHAT IS YOUR FAST FOOD WEAKNESS?

Tarek Hassan, MD: French fries… Not shoestring fries, curly fries, waffle fries, or any other altered fries like those with cheese, spices, or anything else—ONLY thick, meaty, perfectly plump French fries (maybe with a little mayo…)!

Mark Humayun, MD, PhD: McDonald’s fries

Dante Pieramici, MD: Not a “traditional” fast food, but happy hour sushi at Oishii (Houston, TX). Fresh fish and fast service, both crucial when dining with three kids.

3. WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT IN MEDICINE?

Tarek Hassan, MD: To be able to educate and lead throughout my career at every level—my technicians, students, residents, fellows, colleagues, societies, and throughout the house of medicine.

Mark Humayun, MD, PhD: The Argus II

Dante Pieramici, MD: Designing, coordinating, and interpreting clinical trials
